The Mobile World Congress 2025 boosts Barcelona as an innovation hub

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 has concluded its edition with great success, bringing together 109,000 attendees and reaffirming, once again, its position as the leading global tech event.

The event highlighted the latest technological advancements, with artificial intelligence and robotics at the forefront. Their ongoing evolution has made them key tools for innovation across various sectors, from improving business efficiency to creating new technological solutions for daily life. The technology showcased at MWC underscores Barcelona’s role as an innovation hub.

One of the major highlights of this edition was the Talent Arena, a completely new space at the MWC 2025 designed for young people starting their journey in the tech world. Here, students and professionals had the chance to explore job opportunities in fields like programming and data analysis, as well as participate in activities such as hackathons and mentoring sessions. With over 20,000 square meters dedicated to fostering digital talent, the event attracted thousands of people eager to learn and connect with companies in the sector. Through this initiative, MWC not only reinforces its position as the largest innovation and tech event but also as a key platform for talent development and employability in the industry.

While the Talent Arena focused on digital talent, 4YFN continues to be a leading force in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, with artificial intelligence driving innovation. With its rapid growth and the participation of over 600 startups, this event has become the perfect stage for entrepreneurs, investors, and emerging companies.

This year, 4YFN was the chosen stage for Barcelona Global to present the Barcelona Global Scale-Up Monitor 2024. At the Agora Stage of 4YFN, and alongside CaixaBank DayOne, Barcelona Global presented its report, which examines the challenges and opportunities for startups in the city.

Throughout the day, Barcelona Global partners also had the opportunity to visit some of the most relevant spaces at the event, such as the Mobile World Capital stand, which this year focused on technologies like AI, big data, and IoT to improve people's quality of life and address challenges such as sustainability, social inclusion, and the aging population. They also visited the stands of Telefónica and Cellnex, two of the leading actors in the tech sector.

Barcelona Global's presence at the congress reaffirms the Association's commitment to innovation, entrepreneurship, and the generation and attraction of talent.

The Mobile World Congress not only boosts the local economy but also strengthens Barcelona's positioning as a global tech hub. However, to solidify this leadership, the city must continue fostering digital talent, attracting international investment, and reducing bureaucratic barriers that hold back the growth of startups and scale-ups.

At Barcelona Global, we continue working to make the city a leader in innovation, driving projects to further enhance the entrepreneurial and tech ecosystem.
