Leticia De Mattos: “I am inspired by the scientific spirit of Barcelona”
Leticia De Mattos, medical oncologist, clinician-scientist, and principal researcher of the Neo-antigens and Therapeutic Cancer Vaccines group at the IrsiCaixa AIDS Research Institute.
Leticia De Mattos explains in El Periódico that she chose Barcelona “for the excellence of its institutions” and because she was looking for a place to start out on her career in science. Born in Belo Horizonte in Brazil, she draws attention to “the scientific and entrepreneurial spirit” of Barcelona and hopes that the city's potential “will continue to attract talent in all fields in the coming years.”
She believes that one of the city's great strengths is “the quality and strength of the people who live and work in it.” "I mean all the people, both those who were born here and those who were not. Diversity makes the city stronger and richer,” she says.
