UPC, UPF, FemCat and Barcelona Global present the degree 'Industrial Technologies and Economic Analysis'
The new interuniversity degree has been launched this course 2018-2019 and has had the involvement and financing of the business network.
The act, that took place last 4th of December in Mies van der Rohe Pavilion, included a presentation by Joaquim Coello, president of BEST Foundation; Antoni Brufau, president of Repsol; students Cristina Lopez and Ernest Gassó, and Pau Guardans, chairman of Barcelona Global. The companies that have collaborated with the degree and members of the Barcelona Global Board were also present in the event.
This new university degree, public in nature and taught entirely in English, was born from the experience of the companies that collaborate and members of the Barcelona Global Board, conclusions drawn from the Barcelona Global Challenge in Higher Education and three sessions of the work organized in 2015 with the participation of more than 60 professionals, companies and academics.
The objective was to train engineers with transversal training and knowledge in economics as well as to involve companies in the design and implementation of the degree. It has been a perfect opportunity to promote the Barcelona brand and associate it with the training of international excellence.
For the management of the degree, the BEST FOUNDATION-Barcelona Education in Science and Technology, was created, an entity chaired by Joaquim Coello and responsible for coordinating the relationship with the two universities and business participation through the aid programme, aimed at giving the best students access to the grade.
The event was a great success and highlighted the importance of quality education and the need for the involvement of companies, which can guarantee equal access to students with a high academic level through a scholarship program that will finance all or part of the cost of studies.
